The control of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is crucial to combating climate change (Álvarez Aguilar & Navarro Rodríguez, 2024). This study presents a comprehensive methodology to evaluate and mitigate the environmental impact of emissions in Barranquilla, focusing on the quantification of the carbon footprint (CF) and the implementation of sustainable strategies. The methodology is divided into three stages: first, a state-of-the-art analysis that reviews CF measurement methodologies, identifies emission sources, and the challenges in data collection. Second, a quantification tool is developed, adapted to local products and events, based on the life cycle and using internationally recognized emission factors. Finally, action plans are formulated with technical, economic, and social proposals to reduce emissions, involving multiple stakeholders. The results highlight the importance of precise data on resource consumption and waste generation. In agricultural products and events, raw materials and transportation are the main sources of emissions, underscoring the need for better practices and clean technologies. The methodology provides a solid framework for CF management and can be replicated in other cities, promoting environmental sustainability and contributing to global efforts against climate change.
