Summary:The main purpose of this investigation was to determine the benefits that OVAs, as a digital teaching resource, brings in order of contributing in the strengthening of reading comprehension in primary school students. The investigation was focused under a quantitative approach and descriptive - explanatory type, with a quasi-experimental design. The statistical population was constituted by fifty-two third-grade students from the Luruaco Agricultural Technical Institution, where twenty-six of the students belonged to the control group and the other twenty-six students were part of the experimental group, who were intervened with the proposed strategy. An observation sheet was used as instruments with previous established criteria that allowed quantifying using a Lickert´s frequency scale, how favorable or unfavorable the students' attitude was towards the OVA. Also, a questionnaire was applied in two moments of the investigation (pre-test and post-test) in order to identify the reading comprehension level of the population under study. For the result analysis, the program SPSS was applied to process the obtained data, where a remarkable difference between the two groups was observed, verifying the effectiveness and relevance of theories that support the present investigation in terms of reading and in lecture comprehension terms, also in terms of ICT and the use of OVA. Finally, it is concluded that the use of OVA affects positively in the strengthening of students' reading comprehension.
