This research aims to set out a methodology to develop strategic planning processes in universities. The methodology was developed using a theoretical integration of contribu-tions about strategic management over the last decade. Findings of this research indi-cate that the current highly dynamic context challenges universities to design innova-tive management strategies to respond to strategic priorities such as: a gradual growth of technology infrastructure in line with up-to-date trends, the accelerated process of learning through customized and flexible strategies, and finally, staff’s motivation for developing new capabilities to ensure a radical innovation oriented to keep a permanent approach towards a long-term change. In this context, the stages proposed for creating strategic plans are: Stage of Strategic Assessment, Stage of Strategic Prospects, Stage of Project Strategy, and lastly, Stage of Communication and Strategic Plan Updateapplication/pdfspaCorporación Universidad de la CostaINGE CUC; Vol. 9, Núm. 1 (2013)INGE CUCINGE CUC[1] J.
