Summary:	The study was realized in the town of Peña in Sabanalarga-Atlántico, there is an important part of the water for human consumption corresponds to groundwater, where deep wells are the only source of water for human consumption, with the objective of evaluating the quality of water for human consumption in the settlement of the Peña Atlántico and determine the potential risk to human health, taking as reference the provisions of resolution 2115 of 2007, 3 sampling campaigns were carried out and 8 samples were taken per campaign for A total of 24 samples and 14 parameters analyzed, the first sampling was done in the place “Loma Fresca” which allowed us to obtain an initial diagnosis of the quality of the water consumed by the inhabitants of the village, the other two samples were made in the sectors Of field center, square, for the 3 campaigns took into account the most representative points as the Well, Storage Tank And school. Subsequent to the sampling, the respective laboratory analyzes were carried out on the water samples of each selected point by means of physical, chemical and microbiological parameters in order to obtain the results that indicate the water quality and later to identify the potential risk to Which inhabitants are exposed by the calculation of IRCA. In campaigns 2 and 3 a summary of the local perception on the quality of the water of the town was obtained through surveys. For the analysis of each of the parameters was used the Standard Methods, for the representation of the information obtained from each of the parameters analyzed and the tabulation of the encounters we used the program Microsoft office Excel 2007, and for the representation of the index Of water quality risk (IRCA) was used the program Surfer version 11 The results showed that water quality is affected by biological contamination with total coliforms and fecal coliforms and by parameters outside the permissible level such as alkalinity, dissolved oxygen according to the ranges established by the regulations, concluding that the water of the corregimiento is not Suitable for human consumption because it represents a high level of risk.
