Description
Summary:Failures in mono-phase transformers mounted in posts, which are installed in distribution power grids in proximity to users, use to be associated to a highest number of reports. The above affects the reliability indicators affecting the maximum annual hours of unavailability as well as affecting the economic and financial forecasts in the utility. The project describe the factors that determine the failures of a single-phase distribution transformers installed in a distribution network post in 13.2 kV level. A follow-up model was developed for the analysis and diagnosis of faults in which is determined the lifetime of the distribution transformers installed in the Colombian Atlantic coast. The information reported in the utility database (ELECTRICARIBE S.A. E.S.P.) was considered in order to characterize transformers. The last allows to corroborate the veracity and reliability of the information collected to select the population sample considered. The results identified that the main causes of failure in mono-phases distribution transformers installed in Barranquilla and under climatic conditions of warm weather with bad environmental pollution correspond to: overload, overvoltage and overcurrent, exposure to humidity, presence of hot spots caused by bad connection during the installation, manufacturing process, and lack of technical knowledge. Also, Time lines are presented to achieve the characterization of these faults. Finally, it is possible to identify that the most critical faults and that affects lifetimes equipment’s are hot spots which according to the statistical analyzes could cause the failure of a transformer in 16 days.
