Summary:This research determines the sense of correspondence that can be established between the accreditation process and the visibility, impact and social relevance of institutions of higher education in the Colombian Caribbean, from the perspective of the Actors involved in the educational process. The theoretical support of the research is based on the concepts of quality, accreditation and impact evaluation. It assumes the multidimensional view of quality, and the concept proposed by the National Accreditation Council (CNA); A relational fabric is constructed around the said categories in correspondence with the institutional visibility. From an epistemological - methodological point of view, a complementary approach, of a qualitative and quantitative nature, articulating a qualitative component to processes of quantification of the data obtained from the empirical - field design, it is possible to integrate within a single design techniques, procedures and instruments , Which based on principles of coherence and internal consistency generate spaces of methodological convergence. The study hopes to contribute to a meaningful analysis of the relationship between accreditation processes, based on the continuous improvement of quality and the parameters of visibility, impact and social relevance of institutions of higher education in the Colombian Caribbean, through The definition of the main standards required to reach educational institutions when they participate in institutional planning and evaluation processes, in the search for accreditation within the framework of the educational policy defined by the Colombian state, through the CNA.
