| Summary: | The present investigation deals with the elaboration of an environmental education program oriented to the adequate management of domestic solid waste in the district of Chorrera, Juan de Acosta. This research is assumed from a qualitative perspective, with a practical approach based on the research-action method. The information collection tools used were direct observation and the application of the survey, in order to identify and understand the environmental perception of the inhabitants with regard to the most obvious problems. The population sample was 266 inhabitants of the Chorrera correction between the ages of 16 and 80 for both the application of the collection tools and the implementation of the activities of the environmental education program. Among the results found it was observed that the community presents bad habits in terms of the handling and disposal of solid waste generated such as throwing and burning garbage in green areas, not recycling, delivering waste to operators of the company providing the service in tanks and not in bags, due to the lack of knowledge and culture in the way of being and doing things , from their customs; therefore, the implementation of environmental education strategies that sensitize and incentivize habits focused on the separation in the source of waste, will allow to acquire responsibility in the development of a true environmental awareness among the inhabitants. |
