Summary: | Oxides concentrations in two types of sludge that came from treatment plants of potable water (PTAP) from Colombian Caribbean region were determined, and were compared with concentrations of these ox-ides in Portland cement type II, in order to decide how feasible is its use in the construction field.Research development was made in three stages: 1. Sampling and drying of sludge. 2. Analysis by X-rays fluorescence (XRF), to both types of muds and cement. 3. Statistical analysis of results obtained through a nonparametric test for median comparison. We can conclude in a statistic way exists an impor-tant difference in concentrations of CaO, SiO2, Fe2O3, MgO and Al2O3 of sludges and cement Portland type, however sludge B meets the requirements of the NTC 321 standard “Composición química del cemento Portland (Chemical Composition of Portland Ce-ment)” in concentrations of Al2O3, Fe2O3 and MgO ex-cept in SiO2, in other hand sludge A only meets with percentages of SiO2 and MgO. |
