Summary:This research corresponds to a qualitative study whose purpose is to determine the process of resocialization of the convicted person in courtyard A of Establecimiento Penitenciario de Mediana Seguridad y Carcelario El Bosque in Barranquilla Atlántico. The following specific objectives were proposed: Identify work, study and teaching programs for the resocialization of the convicted person in the Colombian and district context. Characterize the population of convicts held in courtyard A of Establecimiento Penitenciario de Mediana Seguridad y Carcelario El Bosque in Barranquilla Atlántico. Determine the fundamental rights injured as a consequence of prison overcrowding in Colombia, and finally Review the management of the prison institution in the face of the limitations for resocialization, to face the obstacles or problems that prevent or delay the resocialization process. The methodology is socio juridical type of mixed method with qualitative and quantitative assessments. The data collection instrument was a semi-structured interview with experts in the research context and a survey. The intentional non-probabilistic sample was taken from those convicted person in the prison courtyard A of Establecimiento Penitenciario de Mediana Seguridad y Carcelario El Bosque. As a result, it was possible to identify the necessary programs for work, study and resocialization teaching for high-security, medium- and minimum-security prisoners, but with average levels of overcrowding that affects access to programs offered by management as a fundamental right a towards resocialization.
