Description
Summary:The theoretical advances in the explanatory and functional approach of Anorexia Nervosa have been proposed to be identified in this study through the general principles of the three generations in the Cognitive-Behavioral Model. The AN therapies’ effectiveness is not conclusive, generally due to the etiology lack of clarification and also because of the methodological challenges characteristic of the nature of the disorder. Additionally, the evidence-based practice importance had been highlighted, since it integrates the clinic experience and the scientific evidence, facilitating the therapeutic exercise and decision making. This study is theoretical in order to present advances without the use of statistics (Montero & León, 2007). In accordance with the methodology, a bibliographic research was done in different specialized databases, 30 articles were obtained that met the eligibility criteria. In the first instance, the results are characterized by the explanatory models that are focused on the processes defining and the AN development and maintenance factors, besides they develop some guidelines to more accurate and optimal interventions. In second instance, the empiric and theoretical studies demonstrated that most of the factors associated with the trajectory and maintenance of the AN are cognitive and emotional/affective. To conclude the results section, the congruence of explanatory models and the intervention designs with proven evidence were analyzed, highlighting perfectionism and emotional deregulation as the most researched.
