Description
Summary:The quality of education is always linked to several aspects, generally described as tangible or intangible. About tangibles, there are educational services such as access to bibliographic resources, virtual classroom services, virtual laboratories, and synchronous work tools, among others, which are provided online by Higher Education Institutions (HEI). The services contribute directly to the quality of education received by students. Therefore, to support educational services, HEIS must have an Internet-based Telecommunications Infrastructure (IT) that supports all planning, management, and control of the services offered. Thus, guaranteeing users the Availability, Integrity, and Confidentiality of the services provided to maintain optimal levels of Quality of Service, complying with the standards of good practices in Information Technology. It requires compliance with the standards of good IT practices. However, HEIs, within the limits of financial capacity or knowledge of high-performance technological solutions, or due to the availability of specialized human talent, have limitations when undertaking projects to strengthen or design a new IT. Consequently, there is a need for a guideline or standard that allows HEIs to minimize the risk of errors when undertaking new IT projects. In the literature, there is research associated with successful cases of implementation of Internet-based educational services, which independently show significant progress associated with the implementation or scaling of computer network design, or online educational services. Therefore, this proposal proposes a new Methodology for the design of telecommunications infrastructure for the provision of Online Educational Services in IES, which is supported and complies with international standards of good practices of Information Technology and communications.
