Description
Summary:The purpose of the research was to strengthen of reading comprehension with the use of educational podcast as an ICT didactic tool in media students. It was structured under a mixed descriptive-explanatory approach with a pre-experimental design in a single experimental group of pretest and posttest. In de study 30 students from 10th and 11th grade of secondary education participated all of them from the Technical Educational Institution Policarpa Salavarrieta in Soledad, Colombia. The instruments used were the reading comprehension rubrics, a focus group with the secondary teachers, a VLE created for podcasts implementation, non- participant observation with checklists and a documental review matrix to assess the level of reading comprehension and implement the proposal of podcasts. The findings indicate that before applying the podcast tool as a didactic strategy during the academic semester, the students obtained in the pretest at a literal, inferential and critic level: 69%, 41,4% y 10,35% respectively and after applying the strategy, students obtained in the postest in literal level 79,31%, inferential level 58,62% and critic level 27,6%; showing an increase in reading comprehension levels, demonstrating that with the application of the ICT strategy it was possible to obtain better results. It concluded that the implementation of innovative didactic strategies with the use of podcasts motivate students to read, strengthening their Reading Comprehension in the three levels: literal, inferential and critic.
