Description
Summary:Pesticides and heavy metals in many occasions are found as pollutants in bodies of water. That's why in this research project has been realized a partial evaluation of the of organochlorine pesticides OC, organophosphorus pesticides OF, and heavy metals in the Guájaro Reservoir. The results presented here where simple samples were collected during the month of October and December of the year 2016; In order to determine concentrations of pesticides and heavy metals, 7 stations were sampled at the surface level along the Embalse, in order to evaluate 30 OC pesticides and 23 OF pesticides, using gas chromatography (CG) methodology; Additionally, 6 heavy metals Mercury, Lead, Zinc, Chromium, Nickel and Cadmium were evaluated by the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) method. Also, the variables, salinity, temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH and conductivity were determined. The obtained result showed it wasn’t detected presence of 53 evaluated pesticides; However, it detected the presence of heavy metals like: Mercury, Lead, Zinc and cadmium; being permissible levels, according to national and international regulations, Zinc and cadmium in this body of water, while the levels of mercury and lead exceeded the permissible limits under the influence of anthropogenic sources of pollution. Based on these results, a representation was made in a GIS geographic information system, which, together with the other results obtained, establishes a reference point for the planning of future studies to identify the state of El Guájaro Reservoir, Providing relevant information on the contamination of pesticides and heavy metals in the study area.
