Summary: | The inappropriate way to manage solid waste in municipal contexts has generated adverse environmental impacts and deterioration in the quality of people, especially those who live in sectors near critical waste points (open dumps); certainly it has been the anthropic activities, which have forged repercussions on the availability of natural resources such as air, water and soil, as well as the scarce training of people on the use of waste, since schools and educational institutions lack of technical instruments to develop solid waste management, thus wasting the educational context to generate learning habits and forgetting that the academy plays an important strategic role in promoting environmental education (EA). In this same sense, the main purpose of this research is to analyze solid waste management in educational contexts, taking the San Vicente de Soledad Educational Institution (Atlántico) as a pilot. For this, the Participation Action Research (IAP) methodology was chosen, semi-structured interviews and a focus group were implemented with the social actors of the school (rector, natural science teacher, parents, general service personnel, students), in such a way In this way, it was possible to describe the current situation regarding waste management, to jointly define the phases of the management program with the actors. Parallel to the training activities on solid waste management, practical workshops were held that facilitated understanding and understanding of the capacity of the waste to be used. This research generated as a result the reduction of the gap in the participation of social actors in schools, since current projects aimed at implementing the use scheme led by public administrations, do not contemplate their participation, which causes disinterest and ignorance by not recognizing this as an opportunity to properly manage solid waste. Furthermore, the usefulness of this research as an input for research in analogous contexts is highlighted, accentuating this as one of the main results of the present study. |
