This document is developed as final work in the Civil Engineering faculty of the Universidad de la Costa. The principal objective is the formulation of a civil and architectural design proposal for the construction of sustainable houses, with social interest, from materials and construction systems with low environmental impact in the city of Barranquilla. The climatic and geographical conditions of the city are characteristics taken into account for the development of the proposed proposal, which clearly defines its scope and also becomes its main limitation. For the development of this work, two fundamental themes are taken as a frame of reference: the concept of Sustainable Development, mainly framed by the provisions of the United Nations Organization and the Colombian political context for the construction of social interest houses in the last two governments of the country, taken mainly from their development plans
