Summary:The objective of this research was to Identify the Factors that Influence Low Results in the Written Assessments of Sixth Grade Students of Basic Secondary Education. The study was developed under the positivist paradigm, the Population is made up of 12 teachers and 147 students. The information was collected with a structured questionnaire that inquired about: sociocultural level of the parents, study habits and techniques, motivation, expected performances in the written evaluations, methodological strategies used by the teacher. The information analysis included descriptive and statistical processes. The study reported that research experience, study habits, motivation, sociocultural level of the family, pedagogical practices and design of teacher evaluations are key to student academic performance.
