Description
Summary:During the last decades, academic and research institutions have focused their efforts on providing adequate environments to develop teaching processes, with consequent investments in air conditioning systems to guarantee thermal comfort in response to the concern about the adverse effect it has on the motivation and speed of learning. In this research, students' perception of thermal comfort in two buildings of the Universidad de la Costa was evaluated considering the ANSI / ASHRAE 55: 2013 standard. The project was structured in three stages, the first stage consolidated a bibliographic review associated with thermal comfort and evaluation methods. Subsequently, field measurements were made to assess thermal comfort. Finally, in the third stage, the results obtained in the classrooms were analyzed under the climatic conditions of the city of Barranquilla. It was found that the range of operating temperatures accepted by the students was in the range of 22 ° C - 26 ° C differing two degrees below the range established in ANSI / ASHRAE 55: 2013, it was established that the preferred thermal sensation is fresh and slightly fresh. Analyzing the results taking into account the gender of the participants, no significant difference was found between men and women. It was established that by passing the temperature adjustment point from 17 to 24 ° C in the minisplits it is possible to obtain a saving in electric power consumption between 28% and 32%. Keywords
