Summary:The general objective of this work was to analyze the relationship between the socio-family context and the academic performance of secondary school students. To carry out this purpose, a methodology with a rationalistic-deductive approach was used and a mixed paradigm was used from the qualitative and quantitative positions. The sample consisted of 20 students belonging to grade 11 of the San Juan Bosco Educational Institution; 20 parents of said students and 7 teachers who teach different subjects in that grade. The research findings showed that the academic performance of the students of the EI San Juan Bosco average is Basic. These results are due to a deficit in communication between the family and the students and the family and the school, as well as poor integration between them. In the same way, a low level of responsibility, respect for the rules and cooperation was evidenced both on the part of parents and students. It is concluded that it is important to strengthen the socio-family integration in the academic processes in said institution, for which the need arises to restructure the institutional educational project in order to institutionalize strategies that transcend in a transversal way in the different institutional projects, with a view to offering a quality service and to strengthen coexistence within the educational community.
