Summary: | he Barranquilla Carnival, one of Colombia's most iconic festivals and a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, is a celebration known for its unparalleled musical heritage. The musical heritage of the Barranquilla Carnival is a melting pot of indigenous, African, and European influences. In this festival, music is a tangible manifestation of Colombia's rich cultural history. Genres like cumbia, mapalé, vallenato, porro, and champeta fill the streets with rhythm and joy. The fusion of traditional indigenous instruments, such as drums and maracas, with European instruments like the guitar and accordion, breathes life into an energetic music that invites dance and celebration. This heritage extends beyond the Carnival celebration, as it is promoted throughout the year through cultural events and festivals that highlight traditional music and dance. Thus, the Barranquilla Carnival is not just a spectacular party but also a fundamental vehicle for the preservation and dissemination of the musical richness of Colombia's Caribbean region. From this research emerges an auditory space (Podcast) called "La Fonoteca Del Carnaval," where through in-depth interviews, we will have the opportunity to hear different perspectives and learn about the issues surrounding this celebration from the participation of experts, artists, and key personalities. |
