Description
Summary:Composting is a biological process of degradation of organic matter, carried out by microorganisms in the presence of oxygen, with an adequate temperature, humidity and pH, the transformation of organic waste into homogeneous fertilizer is guaranteed. In order to evaluate the composting process with bovine blood, generated in a beneficiation plant and other residues such as manure, an experimental pilot-scale design of a mixture of these two components was performed with three variations in the percentages in each sample. The decomposition and degradation process of the organic matter were studied, as well as the parameters that show the development of the sample, such as pH, temperature, humidity, and the amount of carbon and nitrogen present in each sample. The process was developed for a total of 9 weeks, divided into three periods where changes were expected in the aforementioned variables. From the results obtained and the analysis of them, it was identified that the high humidity with initial values over 80% for each of the samples, and the low Carbon: Nitrogen, with values below 20: 1; affected the bio-oxidation of the mass to be composted, and the necessary changes in it for its maturation. This study aims to generate knowledge for the adoption of alternatives that allow the reuse of PBA’s (Slaughter House) waste and reduce the pollution generated by the incorrect final disposal of these wast
