Summary:The improvement of the public service associated with taxi type vehicles is obtained from the decrease of response times in each requested service and the maximum coverage of the fleet of taxis in the city. Possessing an improvement in these two aspects contributes to the optimization of the service, creating comfort, safety, positive perceptions from the clients, thus contributing in the development and the quality of public transport in the city. Therefore, this research evaluates the relocation system of taxi type vehicles in the city of Barranquilla, initially doing an assessment on the perception of the citizens regarding the taxi service that offers the city, followed by the characterization of the current relocation system of the company which is taken as an object of study explaining, in detail, the manner in which the company executes its procedures based on policies defined by the company. Subsequently, a mathematical model is created and developed in order to make the study of the system of relocation that involves several test scenarios that will be key to the analysis of the results that identify the most suitable distribution of vehicles, depending on the behavior of customers in particular events in the city. In addition, the different solutions or strategies, that are proposed, promotes the continuous improvement of the relocation and assignment system for type taxi vehicles, contributing to maximize the coverage of vehicles in the city and the decline of response times.
