Description
Summary:It is daily observed how information processing performed by media and addressed to public opinion exceeds the limits of the freedom of the press by invading people’s privacy; we especially refer both to headlines, and information development and content. This phenomenon has been studied by Sociology, Philosophy, and Law. Strictly speaking, in the judicial field, this topic acquires major relevance since within the framework of the Constitution of 1991 the protection and promotion of civil liberties were taken into account. However, the limit of these prerogatives is unknown. This research paper is the result of the project Discourse Analysis and the Transformation of Criminal Collective Imaginary in Newspaper Headlines in Valledupar which selected as parameter Van Dijk’s standard instruments and researches (2007) and Merton’s Interactionismof crime (1993) using a methodology that combines quantitative and qualitative strategies for information processing and analysis.
