Summary:In order to analyze the relevance of the didactic options in the area of sixth and seventh grade language at the Bolivarian Educational Institution of San Andres Island, an investigation was carried out that was based on previous theories and research that address and explain the didactic processes , culture and language. The study was conducted under a mixed or complementary approach, with the combination of qualitative and quantitative, descriptive and field techniques, a survey was applied to teachers and an observation guide to class sessions. After analyzing and interpreting, it was concluded that the didactic options developed in the Bolivarian Institute of San Andres Island - Colombia, are not relevant to the language area in the sixth and seventh grades, although they present the requirements of law , in terms of having an Institutional Educational Project, as well as presenting evidence in the plans and programs about the options developed, these are not in accordance with the interests and culture of the students of the island. In these projects, there are no official actions or activities that allow experiencing the culture of the island, to be worked in language area. It was recommended to work in the promotion of the autochthonous culture, in the interests of the students, in the strengthening of teaching-learning activities in language as a way to make the training process relevant.
