Summary: | This research was conducted at the Instituto de Lenguas Extranjeras (ILE) at Universidad Simon Bolivar in Barranquilla. Its purpose was to strengthen English learning through learning styles mediated by the use of OER. Consequently, it was necessary the identification of the learning styles of students in level III, the discrimination of the educational activities that were more in line with the learning preferences of the students under study, and the selection of some of the open educational resources existing in internet to facilitate the learning of English, then assessing the impact thereof. The work was justified by the need to train competitive professionals in the labor market and student mobility level as part of their overall human being development. It was based on the theory about ICT and teaching of foreign languages, OER and learning styles. A mixed method research was used, with an action research design. The sample was 23 students of level III. A VAK questionnaire was used to identify learning styles, a Temoa rubric, surveys, observation, and a semi structured interview. The results showed that students had greater motivation to use resources tailored to their learning style as they considered that using them this way, would improve their English learning. |
