Supporting policies are recommended to promote sustainable community-based systemsEsta investigación tiene como objetivo evaluar principalmente la viabilidad técnica y económica de un sistema híbrido de energía en el municipio de Repelón, ubicado en la región Caribe de Colombia, así mismo su posible impacto ambiental, combinando fuentes de energía renovable y convencional para optimizar el suministro energético y reducir la dependencia de combustibles fósiles. Para alcanzar este objetivo, se realizó un estudio exhaustivo de la demanda energética del municipio, identificando las principales cargas y su variabilidad estacional. Con base en los datos obtenidos, se diseñó un sistema híbrido que integra energía solar fotovoltaica, biogás y la red eléctrica convencional. La simulación y optimización del sistema se llevaron a cabo utilizando el software HOMER Pro, permitiendo evaluar diferentes configuraciones y seleccionar la opción más eficiente y económica. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron que el sistema híbrido propuesto es capaz de satisfacer adecuadamente la demanda energética del pueblo y ofrecer significativos ahorros económicos. El análisis económico reveló una tasa interna de retorno (IRR) del 9%, un retorno de la inversión (ROI) del 6.2% y un periodo de recuperación simple de 9.8 años. Además, el costo nivelado de energía (LCOE) se redujo considerablemente en comparación con la dependencia exclusiva de la red eléctrica convencional. La integración de recursos locales permitió transformar desechos orgánicos en biogás y generar electricidad a partir de la energía solar. Los hallazgos destacan la viabilidad económica y la sostenibilidad ambiental del sistema híbrido. La disminución de la huella de carbono y una gestión más responsable de los residuos destacan la importancia del modelo de comunidades energéticas en Colombia. La investigación sugiere que este enfoque no solo mejora la sostenibilidad, sino que también puede contribuir a la estabilidad del sistema eléctrico regional.
