Summary:The educational system raises the need to consolidate training processes oriented towards integrality based on the strengthening of performance profiles that promote the development of competencies in different dimensions of the human being. The needs and interests of the students are taken as reference points, as well as the goals to be reached in articulation with the Institutional plan (PEI Plan de Educación Institucional), to reevaluate and strengthen the strategies proposed in the curricular plan and in the improvement plans formulated. This investigation was born as a result of a concern existing in the Educational Institution Junín, on Providencia Isla, with the 4th grade students, after observing that the educational level does not present significant improvements in the area of language, thus affecting the performance in the different subjects as is noticeable in the report card and the results of the national learning tests-SABER. We infer the need to create new teaching-learning strategies and use pedagogical tools that help improve the reading processes and that students can overcome the difficulties presented. There is an urgent need for backup alternatives to the teachers' efforts so that cognitive processes of meaningful learning can be developed from the classroom. The aim is to define teaching strategies that guide the strengthening of reading and writing in favor of improving educational quality in the Institution.
