Summary:The main purpose of the research presented is to strengthen a healthy coexistence in the eighth grade students of the IED Técnica Metropolitano de Barranquilla "Parque Educativo and Paulino Salgado "Batata" through the implementation of democratic participation strategies, for which a study methodology under the qualitative approach, research-action type, with a descriptive scope, from the Critical Partner Paradigm. For the present investigation, the population is represented by 10 teachers and 20 eighth grade students from the IED Técnica Metropolitano de Barranquilla "Parque Educativo and Paulino Salgado "Batata", in Colombia, while the techniques and data collection instruments applied were the Record of documentary analysis, the Interview and the Focus Group, which were previously validated by experts related to the subject; while for the analysis of the data obtained, the triangulation technique was used. The reviewed literature showed that it is possible to identify, within the national and international context, democratic participation strategies that favor the development of school coexistence in educational institutions, determining that those aimed at democratic participation must be mainstreamed with all the subjects seen in the stage school. It was possible to conclude that at the level of the educational institutions Técnica Metropolitano de Barranquilla "Educational Park and Salgado "Batata" it is important that there is a pedagogical and community leadership that allows the democratic participation of students in all the activities carried out daily.
