Summary:Adolescence is conceived as the evolutionary moment of biological, psychological and social transformations. In this stage of development, adolescents live a psychosocial crisis in order to give meaning to the self. Adults who support the process should know that the adolescent needs to feel autonomous but guided during his psychosocial maturation, it is necessary for the adult to generate spaces of trust and limits reinforced with values for life. For its part, the educational setting is called to be a focal point for promoting mental health that generates psychosocial well-being for the construction of identity, addressing in an ideal manner the sexual, vocational, emotional and social identity. The main objective of this research was to understand the construction of identity of the postmodern adolescent in the educational setting, framed in a qualitative paradigm, with a phenomenological design and the technique used to collect information was a focus group. The conclusions of the research process lead to the understanding that the construction of identity of the postmodern adolescent in the educational setting is experienced as a very important process that includes acceptance of one's own body, values and ideologies for life, sexual and vocational orientation, despite being mediated by characteristics of postmodernity adolescents are giving greater importance to subjective elements.
