Description
Summary:The practice of social architecture has gained strength with the development of communities as a result of the accelerated growth of cities. It is of special attention for this branch of architecture, the intervention to less favored communities. In the Colombian context, vulnerable communities have a high occupation in the territory, and are a consequence of social problems such as the armed conflict since the 70s, in cities like Medellín with the community of El Faro and the formation of irregular settlements due to migrations such as the municipality of Malambo. The affectation of these populations is summarized in terms of access to resources and the recognition by the state of their rights and their identity in the territory, in addition to the negligence of public agencies of the budget allocated to these communities and therefore the perpetuation of the vulnerability problem. Therefore, from the social architecture, urban regeneration is intended from urban acupuncture strategies through processes such as co-design, to help mitigate the problems of public space, empower the community and transform its realities. The San Sebastián neighborhood of the Malambo municipality is analyzed and a public library model is proposed, called "Lectio", in which, through participatory forms of intervention, this project will become a reflection of the community and the voice of the inhabitants of the neighborhood, regenerating the public space and giving visibility to the municipality before the external gaze.
