Description
Summary:The alteration of the environmental quality of the physical, chemical, biological and microbiological characteristics of surface water bodies is the result of a useless number of environmental factors associated with the development of a series of anthropogenic activities of an industrial, commercial and domestic nature; These alter and affect the natural composition of the body of water, causing one of the environmental problems of the mayor transcendentalist at present. It is important to bear in mind that the consequences and repercussions are reflected not only in affecting the biological and ecological potential of the water body of influence, but also in turn reducing the quality of life of the social component rooted around The affected zone Based on the above, there is a need to evaluate the physicochemical and microbiological quality of one of the most important surface water bodies in the state of the Atlantic: El Embalse del Guajaro; Which, is located in the peripheral-rural area of the municipality of Repelón-Atlantic. For the development of the following proposal, an experimental methodology was used which comprises different stages in the execution process that began with a sampling campaign in the study area, for reconnaissance and selection of stations taking into account the geographical and topographic conditions ; Selecting 9 sampling stations corresponding to the Guajaro Reservoir, and 8 stations corresponding to the Repelón Irrigation District, from each one, point samples were taken and in situ parameters such as temperature, dissolved oxygen, salinity, pH and conductivity were evaluated And a later phase in the laboratory for nutrients, microbiological quality, and other parameters such as turbidity, alkalinity, total suspended solids, chemical oxygen demand and biochemical oxygen demand. The results of each station were evaluated by means of pictograms, maps in Surfer 11, to carry out their due analysis, correlation and comparison with current Colombian regulations and some international regulations, which allowed to identify the environmental conditions of the body of water. This analysis reflected the alteration and deterioration of the environmental quality of the Reservoir and the District Channels, taking into account the physicochemical and microbiological characteristics of the same, when compared to the normativity was reflected that in some cases exceed the permissible limits established by activity as is the case of Total and Fecal Coliforms. Thus, as a mitigation strategy for these pollution indices, environmental management plans (EPAs) were proposed that allowed the evaluation of the possible impacts caused by the anthropic activities to propose control measures to contribute to the improvement of water quality and use efficient water resource.
