Summary: | In this research, the aim was to strengthen the communicative competence of spoken English as a foreign language through the use of podcasts as a tool to facilitate this process. To achieve this, this qualitative study was built upon an introspective-experiential approach, grounded in the interpretative paradigm. The instruments were applied to 30 students and 2 English teachers from 2 district educational institutions in the city of Barranquilla. Based on this, the English level of the students in terms of communicative competence in speaking was diagnosed, and perspectives regarding pedagogical processes in the teaching and learning of the subject were explored. The study was approached from constructivism, connectivism, a communicative approach, and sociocultural theory, considered fundamental for the development of communicative competencies as they promote learning through the connection between the individual and peers, using technologies. A proposal for didactic mediation was then designed, utilizing podcasts as a technological tool to enhance levels of communicative competence in spoken English. Through the creation of audio content, the use of the Spotify platform, and the establishment of a virtual learning environment, a didactic unit was structured following national guiding principles and references, all in compliance with the general purpose outlined in this research. |
