Description
Summary:The present work has been carried out with the purpose of detecting the problem of academic performance of the fourth grade students of Basic Primary, being the management of the languages the main factor of said problem. Students handle the Creole language as the first language and the Spanish language as a second language; for this reason, they have learning difficulties in reading and writing in Spanish, because education in the Islands is in the official language of Colombia as required by the Ministry of National Education. It is recommended to achieve a consensus to integrate the languages in the educational formation of the girls and boys of the Islands. In many cases the fourth grade teachers do not have the adequate training to handle the pedagogical contents in the Creole language, since all the educational contents are in the Spanish language. The biggest problem for students is in literacy. They handle three languages that are not taking advantage of it as a wealth. Teachers' tools must be strengthened so that they take advantage of and make good use of this invaluable resource, such as language management.
