It is obviously that the companies were pioneers establishing quality management models, however, education is recent in this attempt, this time difference and purposes has created a gap, distancing the school provides training and what society and the production system requires. Education has taken up these models of quality management processes designed and implemented Enterprise without major adjustments using a model of school management. So determine how school management affects the implementation of quality in school is the subject of this work, for which the literature on school management and the basic criterion of quality implementation was revised in school, finding schools aimed at achieving specific indicators of its management, but not to the generation of processes to seek an improvement in school outcomes focused on their institutional horizon, that lead to a comprehensive and quality education. Therefore it can be concluded that the lack of a model of school management point to a quality model designed according to the object of the school, would be essential in the pursuit of quality in educational institutions.

Es evidentemente que las empresas fueron pioneras estableciendo modelos de gestión de Calidad, por el contrario, la educación está reciente en este intento, esta diferencia de tiempo y de finalidades ha creado una brecha, distanciando la formación que la escuela aporta y lo que la sociedad y el sistema productivo requieren. La educación ha retomado estos modelos de gestión de calidad por procesos, diseñados para empresas y los implementa sin mayor rigor, mediante un modelo de gestión escolar, planteada en la ley 115 de 1994. Por lo tanto determinar como la gestión escolar incide en la implementación de la calidad en la escuela es el objeto del presente trabajo, para lo cual se revisó la bibliografía relacionada con la gestión escolar y como criterio básico la implementación de calidad en la escuela, encontrando que las escuelas apuntan a la consecución de indicadores específicos de su gestión, más no a la generación de procesos que busquen una mejora en los resultados, centrados en su horizonte institucional, permitiendo emitir un juicio de valor que referencie la distancia relativa entre lo planteado y el cumplimiento del objeto mismo de la institución.
