Description
Summary:At the present time, the Colombian government has approached the new Information and Communication Technology Systems (NTIC’s in Spanish) focusing in our country’s development. Being connectivity the main feature of the Information and Communication Technology Systems, it has granted connectivity in many Colombian homes. In an attempt to improve and promote education, the government has provided digital points of connection as well as tablets, and computers; all in an effort to enhance and support higher education. Certainly, the implementation of the new Information and Communication Technology Systems in federal institutions promotes the development of our students and helps minimize the digital shortage that Colombia is currently experiencing. On this report we will learn about the design of “red Mash” developed for the Institución Educativa Alberto Assa. This network will be exclusively used for educational purposes and it will allow the implementation of a virtual campus, online radio, forums, and streaming. Therefore, reducing the digital gap which is more notorious in vulnerable communities, like ours, which also have limited resources. To accomplish the new network’s final design, an exhaustive study of Institución Educativa Alberto Assa’s current network and infrastructure was carried out. In order to decide what frequencies and channels were to be added into the network, they decided to analyze frequencies and channels already in use within the institution. Some changes still need to be implemented in the antenna in different buildings to the Institute. Such changes will take place in one the nodes on the distribution of the network. These changes will allow, providing a better coverage and connectivity. All this will be possible due to service spots distributed strategically throughout the institute
