Summary:This research consists of the diagnosis of the current situation of the production system of “Moda Atlántico”, a textile business focused on the manufacturing and commercialization of clothing, through the implementation of continuous improvement tools. According to this previous statement, the purpose of the research is the presentation of some proposals that allow the decrease of defects and enhancement of the production system. The proposal is developed by the application of the Six Sigma method through the data collection provided by the enterprise manager about the number of orders during 6 weeks to do an exhaustive inspection and identify the defects; specifying the main problems and their causes, using statistic tools like Pareto and Ishikawa diagrams. Some of the most important findings was obtaining a short-term sigma of 1.05, and a long-term sigma of -0.45. We found a concentration of problems in the manufacturing process, originated in the operators and machines. That’s why some improvement strategies were proposed, and a control plan was defined that allows monitoring the effectiveness of proposals. Also, the 5S methodology was used to determine the foundations for a better workplace organization. Furthermore, it was established a Material requirement planning (MRP) that will let organize the production and achieve the optimization of the production system.
