description Esta investigación presenta una revisión de la literatura sobre pavimentos perpetuos, un tipo de infraestructura vial diseñado para soportar cargas de tráfico intensas a lo largo de su vida útil, minimizando los costos de mantenimiento y rehabilitación en un amplio periodo de servicio. A pesar de las ventajas estructurales y sostenibles que ofrecen, su implementación a nivel mundial ha sido limitada debido a la variabilidad de las metodologías de diseño, los criterios normativos locales y el elevado costo inicial. Esta revisión analiza estudios de caso realizados en distintas regiones del mundo, evaluando las metodologías de diseño, los criterios técnicos y los análisis de costo y sostenibilidad de estos pavimentos. Al integrar esta información, se busca proporcionar una base sólida para futuras investigaciones y proyectos, promoviendo la adopción de pavimentos perpetuos como una solución viable y sostenible en el ámbito de la infraestructura vial.

Despite the structural and sustainability advantages they offer, their global implementation has been limited due to the variability in design methodologies, local regulatory criteria, and high initial costs. This review analyzes case studies conducted in different regions of the world, evaluating design methodologies, technical criteria, and cost and sustainability analyses of these pavements.
