Description
Summary:The organizations, as economic units, have various challenges to ensure their sustainability. This effort is measured through strategic direction, with multiple manifestations, tools and methods in strategic planning, with an objective focused on generating positive and upward margins. The main objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between return on equity (ROE) and strategic direction (ED), in response to investment needs in the tourism sector in Colombia. It has an empirical-inductive epistemological approach, with a non-experimental investigative design of transectional-correlational cut, focusing on the measurement of ROE linking a possible relationship with the application of the attributes of strategic direction. A survey was applied to 290 organisations in the tourism sector in Colombia. The results obtained shows positive, negative, neutral and non-existent correlations, between some attributes of the ED and the ROE behavior. The need to create mathematical measurement models that better analyze the relationships between non-continuous variables is evident.
