Description
Summary:The widespread use of plastics in several areas of daily life generates global concern about the negative impacts that this material causes on the environment and human health. The accumulation of plastic waste in ecosystems and its harmful effects on marine and terrestrial life have urgently driven the need to address this problem. In this context, the crucial role played by micro, medium, and small businesses in managing plastic waste is highlighted since their active participation can be decisive in implementing more sustainable practices and ensuring a more promising future. This master's thesis seeks to address the problem of plastic waste management from corporate social responsibility, applied to the case of a dental supply company. To this end, he proposed the creation of a self-diagnosis matrix and preparing a manual for implementing good practices that allow the company to comply with national regulations and strengthen its corporate social responsibility practices. The results show that the company under study requires a structured and effective approach to address the problem of plastic waste management, and the need to implement concrete strategies and practices aimed at mitigating its environmental impact is evident. In addition, the environmental law in this area is examined, highlighting the challenges presented by its application for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). It is evident that this law, although it seeks to regulate the management of plastic waste, lacks specific mechanisms that take into account the limitations and capacities of MSMEs for an effective implementation. The detailed analysis reveals the need for solid strategies adapted to the reality of companies such as Galdent, as well as the provisions of the regulation and supports in the environmental law on plastics to facilitate the adoption of responsible practices in the management of plastic waste by micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. These findings underscore the importance of addressing in a comprehensive and business-tailored manner the challenges associated with plastic waste management within the framework of corporate social responsibility
