Description
Summary:The present research-based work takes as its main aim the design of a didactic strategy to develop the argumentative competence of sixth grade students attending Colegio Distrital Marie Poussepin, by means of the so called open digital educational resources (REDA, derived from its initials in Spanish). REDA is a mixed-focus process, where some relevant aspects of quantitative and qualitative methodology are combined, based, in turn, on empirical-analytical research. The population of the school consists of 1,746 students, 72 of which were selected for inclusion in the sample using a non-probabilistic technique. In addition, five Math teachers assisted in collecting information, using expertly validated instruments such as, surveys, questionnaires, observations and tests. Firstly, the students’ actual mathematical argumentative condition was established and afterwards, a didactic based strategy was devised to enable students to interact. The outcomes found reveal how REDA helps students, making them use available skills and mathematical concepts to identify connections and make possible optimum mathematical argumentation.
