Description
Summary:A growing house is that minimum spatial unit that due to its size becomes affordable in the market and that with the passage of time and thanks to a previous design that contemplates and facilitates it, it will increase in area. Given the importance of adequately planning growth according to the variability of some factors conditioning the process (family composition, average savings, cost of construction, etc.), through this article will try to lay the foundations to optimize the growth process in incremental housing, identifying these factors and relating them to the selection of expansion mechanisms that should be used. To do this, two concrete coexistence units (one simple and one complex) and based on the principles of flexibility, density, will be analyzed. and territoriality, which are directly related to the functional comfort of the home, will indicate which of the expansion mechanisms studied in this case (union, habitable table, large house and vertical occupation) is the most appropriate for each of these two units of coexistence. From the analysis it is concluded that while for the unit of complex coexistence it is suggested to use the mechanisms of extension by union or by vertical addition, for the unit of simple conviviality any of the expansion mechanisms analyzed can be applied, unless it is wanted to reduce the problems arising from territoriality, which would opt for the union
