Description
Summary:For years they have been conducting studies on the quality of beaches in various parts of the world; even in Colombia there are some beaches studies were conducted in the Caribbean and the Pacific, which were focused on the sanitary quality of water, regardless of the quality of the sands of the beaches. The beaches are a classification which determines the arena of primary contact as the active area of the beaches, these being the place where people spend most of the time, and which perform most activities; Despite this the sands not been considered as an object of study. Given the above five beaches of the municipality of Puerto Colombia were elected - Atlantic, which are: Playa Sabanilla, Miramar, Country, Salgar and Pradomar, in order to assess the sanitary quality, fats and oil and particle size distribution of these. The monitoring was conducted in the months of April, June, August, October, November and December 2014 and February 2015 which include high and low seasons from the tourist crush. To perform two shows for monitoring beach, one in the morning and one in the afternoon were taken, extracted samples of sand 10 cm deep. As the health evaluation parameters Total coliforms and E. coli were analyzed. Among the results it was found that the beaches of Salgar, Pradomar and Miramar, do not meet the permissible limits in certain monitoring, recording concentrations for total coliforms up to 2400 NMP/10g, 810 NMP/10g and 2100 NMP/10g respectively. For E. coli on the beaches of Sabanilla, Miramar, Salgar and several alarming data correspondingly Pradomar 1200 NMP/10g, 1300 NMP/10g, 1110 NMP/10g, 400 NMP/10g they were reported. To identify and define the land use of the beaches was necessary to implement Sector Technical Standard NTS-TS 001-2 Colombian beach resort, which was also a guide for setting an allowable limit parameter of solid waste and fecal coliforms.
