Description
Summary:The general objective of this research was to analyze the influence of teaching practices on school dropout of children from the Nueva Granada Rural Educational Institution ( I.E.R.N.G), in Puerto Asís (Putumayo - Colombia) during the years 2015 - 2019. For its development, this study was framed under a mixed or complementary research paradigm, which involves the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data. Likewise, a nonexperimental, transectional field research design was taken into account, and the method adopted was inductive, which starts from particular premises to establish general conclusions. The population under study was made up of 103 students of basic education (3rd – 9th) and middle (10th -11th), from the main headquarters of the I.E.R. Nueva Granada who underwent the application of the quantitative technique (survey) composed by a questionnaire with closed questions, in the same way, the qualitative technique was used, which allowed the interviewing of former students who had dropped out, teachers, and the institution's teaching director. The previous instruments facilitated the provision of data and information necessary to analyze and obtain results in the variables of teaching practices and school dropout. It was concluded that school dropouts in the I.E. Rural Nueva Granada, were not due to the educational practices of the teachers, but turned out to be a multi-causal phenomenon, where socioeconomic, academic and personal factors predominated.
