Description
Summary:This research evaluates the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) in the Fonce River basin, located in Santander, Colombia, considering hydrological and topographical factors. In the study, the river’s basin was delineated using topographic satellite images to define the study area. Subsequently, eight active meteorological stations of the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology, and Environmental Studies (IDEAM) were identified, providing the necessary hydrometeorological information for the research. Based on the collected data, a detailed analysis was conducted, and representative dates within the study period, spanning from 2000 to 2023, were selected. These dates encompassed various hydrometeorological conditions, such as wet periods, dry periods, and times with antecedent wet and dry conditions. Then, using MOD13Q1 satellite images, the NDVI was calculated for each of these dates, allowing for a detailed assessment of vegetation variation in response to the different hydrological and topographic conditions present in the basin
