From Formative (1000ac-1ad) ro Regional Classic (1ad-900ad) times, Mesistas -- a small prehispanic community in the San Agustin zone of the Alto Magdalena region of Colombia -- emerged as a nucleation and impresive complexes of monumental sculpture and burial mounds.
