Summary: | The development of this thesis is carried out in order to study and determine the viability of using an agroindustrial byproduct, such as glycerol, for the production of thermoplastics (PHB) through microbial fermentation. The work is made up of three chapters; In the first chapter, which includes the referential framework of the work, we talk about the production of Biodiesel in Colombia, starting with a little of the history of hydrocarbons worldwide, as well as the environmental problems that have been generated and possible alternatives, additionally the Biodiesel production process is considered in detail in order to understand how the by-product of interest, glycerol, is generated and understand the potential for use it has due to its properties. |
