Summary:This Job evaluates the implementation of the hollow rod in progressive cavity pumping system (PCP), in a well with high tortuosity, dog leg severity up to 4º/100 ft, deviation angles of 50º in Yaguara Field, where sucker and continuous rods failed in a brief period of time. First of all, the geology of Yaguara Field is described, where well A is located, with the purpose of established the reader in the implementation scenery. Secondly, the PCP system is explained with high detail to proceed with the respective failure analysis and the numerical simulation. Besides, due to the high frequency of the failures in well A, it was mandatory analyze each condition that led to the rod string to fail, complementing with real evidences found in the pulling operations; summarizing with the respective failures classification following the RIFT methodology, accepted in oil and gas industry. Additionally, numerical simulations was carried out to each of the differents rods evaluated (Sucker, Continuous and Hollow) with the software PC-Pump, property of C-Fer technologies.
