Summary:This bachelor project defines the properties of the Bamboo from the chemical studies carried out on the Chusquea Scandens Kunth species, Herbaceous bamboo, of the Phocaea family from the Tabio region of Cundinamarca, aged between 3 to 5 years, found at an altitude of 2,759 meters above sea level. Where an evaluation of variables was carried out by obtaining activated carbon by physical activation, activated carbon has a porous structure, and a high surface area that allows it to be adsorbent, presenting a diverse field of application in the industrial sector, using the culms of the plant for carbonization, which took into account the best conditions of temperature and time to compare it at the cost level with coals of other species of Bamboo, and then to determinate the harnessing of this material for activated charcoal production.
