The short version IIFE -5 originally set a score of 21 with cutoff point. Three diagnostic categories were analyzed: mild to moderate, mild, and no erectile dysfunction. Comparing the scores between groups using ANOVA, according to the subjective measures of the questionnaire and the objective measures of penile plethysmography in a sample of 54 males. Important controversies from authors who, since 2001, doubt the original cut-off point. The results show significant differences between two of the groups based on the increase in the circumference of the penis, and on the other hand it is recognized that the subjective arousal is similar in all three groups and that it responds to the psychological correlation of the participants according to the phase of the sexual response. The current and future non-review of the IIFE-5 would show serious psychosocial consequences in male populations with misdiagnosis for the male population.El Índice Internacional de la Función Eréctil es la escala más ampliamente utilizada a nivel mundial para evaluar disfunción eréctil en varones. El IIFE-5 de manera original establece como punto de corte 21. Se analizaron tres categorías diagnósticas: leve a moderado, leve, y sin disfunción eréctil, comparando puntajes entre los grupos por medio de ANOVA, según las medidas subjetivas del cuestionario y las medidas objetivas de la pletismografía peniana en una muestra de 54 varones. Se tuvieron en cuenta importantes controversias de autores que desde el 2001, dudan del punto de corte original. En los resultados se observan diferencias significativas entre dos de los grupos a partir del incremento de la circunferencia del pene, y por otro lado se reconoce que la excitación subjetiva es similar en los tres grupos.
