Interpersonal problems are a behavioral process that cuts across many traditional diagnostic categories, but have rarely received attention as a true problem category. The primary objective of this dissertation was to evaluate the efficacy of a protocol of Repetitive Negative Thought Dismantling-focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (RNT-focused ACT) in addressing interpersonal problems and early maladaptive schemas. Three sequentially articulated studies were conducted. The first and second studies have an instrumental design through which the psychometric properties of the instruments used for the selection of participants and as outcome measures in the third study were estimated. In the latter, the efficacy of the designed ACT intervention of dismantling repetitive negative thinking was analyzed through a single-case experimental design with multiple baseline across participants and with random assignment to three cohorts. Fifteen participants aged 19 to 62 years with persistent interpersonal problems were recruited. Results support the efficacy of the brief four-session ACT protocol for addressing interpersonal problems.
