The purpose of the present study is to adapt the UWES to the sports context. The sample consists of 240 national third division Spanish football players between the ages of 15 and 38. The UWES factor structure has been analyzed through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. The results reveal a three-factor structure of the scale (vigor, absorption and dedication) and also an adequate internal consistency in all cases. Finally the results show preliminary support for the validity of the construct as sport burnout is negatively related to the three engagement characteristics. These findings provide preliminary evidence for the benefits of using the UWES in the sports context..Pontificia Universidad Javeriananullnull2018-02-24T16:06:33Z2020-04-15T18:31:49Z2018-02-24T16:06:33Z2020-04-15T18:31:49Z2014-03-27http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85Artículo de revistahttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionPDFapplication/pdfapplication/pdfhttp://revistas.javeriana.edu.co/index.php/revPsycho/article/view/258510.11144/Javeriana.UPSY13-3.sesa2011-27771657-9267http://hdl.handle.net/10554/33502spahttp://revistas.javeriana.edu.co/index.php/revPsycho/article/view/2585/9836http://revistas.javeriana.edu.co/index.php/revPsycho/article/view/2585/8739Universitas Psychologica; Vol. 13, Núm. 3 (2014)Atribución-NoComercial-SinDerivadas 4.0 Internacionalinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2reponame:Repositorio Universidad Javerianainstname:Pontificia Universidad Javerianainstacron:Pontificia Universidad Javeriana2023-03-29T19:27:47Z
